January was busy and we aren’t slowing down yet!
We have proven that 2019 is going to be the year where we no longer allow public education to be ignored! We are standing up in our states, our communities, our schools, and in our classrooms to do what is right for the one thing that we all have as a common value – the protection of our students.
With so much going on this month it seemed a little hard to find a focus and a common overall theme – until you think about something we have been demanding that helps our students, the need for more school counselors and access to mental health services.
We know that trauma is a major impact on the education of youth…and it’s time to address it. This month we will have a conversational these around this and increasing school counselors as well as decreasing class size. Moving right into the next month to show the areas where the some of the blame for this trauma can be placed.
This all connects to the collective union power that we have seen building as we stand up to fight for the schools that our students deserve.
