“Stand for something or you will fall for anything”
My mom has made sure that she has instilled this in all 3 of her kids.
As humans we naturally have a fear of questioning authority. This fear has been passed down since the dawn of time and is apparent in even the most primitive seeming examples. The alpha male in a wolf pack, the oldest sibling, the parent, the teacher, the priciple, the President, the bully, the boss. These are all examples of positions in society and nature that we have decided are superior to others, and so we fear questioning their decisions even if they are immoral, harmful, or illogical.
For true democracy to function this fear must be abolished. What must remain is a population eager and ready to question the decisions of their superiors and excited to give and get feedback. There can be no such thing as absolute power at any level of American society or it will be the beginning of a slow and painful death. It is necessary to stand against what you believe is wrong especially if it is for the benefit of the masses. It is necessary to, respectfully, question authority and its means for freedom to reign.
This premise should be fulfilled in every aspect of our lives. I am writing this to inspire confidence and destroy the fear that lies so deeply ingrained in our DNA. We must stand against ALL that is wrong. And of course it is better when we stand together.
As a student you must realize it will never benefit you to not question your teachers and principles and stand against what you know as wrong. We know Common Core is wrong. We know it can be stopped. And now you know there are so many more people just like you out there, afraid of the consequences. There is no great consequence following the action to stop corruption of education. You can stand up to your teachers and follow the advice of your parents to protect yourselves and help save others. In your battles always be well educated, strong minded, confident, and relentless. You have to remember how many others are with you in the fight.
Never be afraid to stand up for what you believe in or you will watch your freedom slip away.
